Evan Williams extra-aged offers flavours different from other bourbons in the distillery’s range, simply due to the extra time it spends in its barrels getting ready. When perfectly prepared it’s bottled and you’ll enjoy a wonderfully mellow and drinkable bourbon which has a perfectly balanced flavour. On the nose you’ll get bright notes of vanilla, cream and spice and they soon lad onto a maple syrup rich body, warm on the palate with oak notes balancing against the spice. Four roses is an exclusive small-batch bourbon that offer a distinct and sweet flavour with strong notes of molasses and cinnamon. Honey hues release honey fudge and nougat notes followed closely by cedarwood and pipe tobacco. The flavour is similarly sweet, with the honey notes married closely with cinnamon and the cedar wood gaining a smoked quality. The final notes that linger are of lightly toasted nuts with the rye content of the bourbon coming to the forefront.
Jensen’s old tom is unique amongst modern gins as it is completely unsweetened. Faithfully reproduced to a 1840s recipe, Jensen’s old tom gin has an intense and complex ingredient base which work wonderfully in cocktails and long drinks. Soft on the nose with warm toasty notes both orange and lime stand out proudly, providing the little sweetness with this gin offers. It is thicker on the palate than other gins but this doesn’t detract from the enjoyment factor.

Using only Quebrada grapes from the Ica area of Peru, Soldeica pisco is a strongly flavoured crystal clear Pisco which has the comforting aroma of cooking bread dough. Don’t be kidded into thinking Briottet Crème de Prune offers up the flavour of what we know as prunes in the UK, it is in fact a rich plum liqueur reminiscent of a classic plum brandy with a little extra cream. Amer picon is a sweet orange-based liqueur which is usually served as an aperitif or mixed with wine, which may sound a little strange but you’ve got to try it to find out. Amer picon is most regularly found in cocktails, including wheat beer cocktails and simply blended with soft drink/mixer/mixers. Doorly’s XO is a sweet concoction of heady aromas and enticing flavours including notes of oloroso sherry thanks to the casks the spirit is matured in. From the heart of the Calvados region, Berney aged this VSOP in limousin oak for around 8 years. It has a great flavour and they recommend it with the cheeseboard, chocolate, or even as an accompaniment to a good cigar.

Patrón citrónge is a premium orange liqueur made in Jalisco in Mexico and has a taste reminiscent of fresh orange juice, wonderful when enjoyed straight or over ice. When you open the bottle you’ll enjoy an aroma which is drenched in fresh oranges, with a little floral warmth and on tasting the flavour is wonderfully refreshing and sweet, with a smoothness to it which helps it go down wonderfully. The orange flavour lingers long after drinking.
Little Bird London Dry Gin is made in small batches in Peckham (little birds peck'em, get it! ) The recipe includes 10 botanicals including grapefruit, orange and ginger (represented by the lady on the bottle). This works well both in a martini and as part of a classic G&T.

Five days steeping before distillation in a copper pot still create the unique and unusually flavoured Hoxton gin. Fords gin is made at Thames Distillers in London using wheat. The botanicals – including Spanish lemon peel, Turkish grapefruit peel and Chinese jasmine – are steeped in the stills for 15 hours before distillation. the result is a gin where the botanicals come to the fore.
